2017-05-15
SES Astra signed a satellite broadband deal with the AVC Group to deliver the Astra2Connect service to AVC’s business customers in theUnited Kingdom , especially those involved in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems for remote operations.
In a statement, AVC Group Director John May said his company would target the service to customers that use telemetry as an essential element to their business. “Wherever a permanent or portable unmanned remote monitoring station is located — the top of a mountain, an oil platform or a remote headland — an Astra2Connect system is the ideal solution for data gathering in isolated locations, which often don’t have terrestrial links because of prohibitive costs. Satellite offers a cost-effective, easy and quickly installed option that has the least impact on the environment.”
Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
