Thuraya Opens Singapore Office; Appoints Hamoui Regional Director of Asia

Mobile satellite services provider Thuraya opened a regional office in Singapore as part of the company’s strategy to grow its mobile satellite business across the Asia Pacific region, the company announced July 1.
Thuraya boasts a range of products in Asian market, including a suite of maritime offerings catering to low and high-end consumers via its Seagull 5000i for narrowband voice and data services and a soon-to-be-launched marine-grade broadband product.
Thuraya also announced the appointment of Bilal Hamoui as Regional Director for Asia based in Singapore and said it would further invest in assembling a full team to cover the Asia region out of Singapore.
“The Asia Pacific region is served by a dedicated satellite; Thuraya 3. Our new plans underline Thuraya’s determination to build on existing partnerships and further enhance our position as a leading Mobile Satellite Services operator,” Thuraya CEO Samer Halawi said in a statement. “The Asian mobile satellite market is growing at rates exceeding those of the rest of the world, driven by a strong maritime sector. Thuraya is well poised to meet the needs of this segment through its unique maritime solutions.”
